Necessary, or nuts? An interesting read on the future of seasteading.

This article has a lot of things right about the lack of viability for seasteading, though it takes sides with (or is it against?) the traditional method of top-down creation, failing to account for our unique bottom-up model. On the other hand, our model is so unique and we’re so new, I’m not sure we could expect anything other than this at the moment.

The article seems to slant toward the naysayer either way, which is also to be expected. Something like this isn’t going to come to pass from the safe and predictable comforts of “possible” as defined by the existing world. We’re going to have to work hard to prove the skeptics wrong. There’s little doubt about that.
